4 legged Jacket & Piles
The four leg JU Jacket provided the support for the Utilities and Living Quarters platform facilities in the Scott Field development. Assembly of the Jacket was carried out on the west slipway following the departure of the Saltire Jacket in 1992. The JU Jacket was loaded out in the year following JD platform installation and as a Jacket weighing 9,500 Tonnes, it was at the time on the upper limit of the lift capacity of offshore Heavy Lift Vessels. The ability to lift install a Jacket of this size realised a number of savings by eliminating the need for launch truss steelwork, buoyancy tanks, flooding systems and other equipment related to launching a Jacket from a barge. The sail-away of this Jacket in early 1993 signalled the start of a quiet spell on the Yard, following a four – year period of intense activity where a number of large structures were completed and loaded out.
The Scott Development celebrated 30 Years in production in Sept 2023 and continued producing into the year 2025 under Chinese ownership.
