Project: Viking Phoenix

More About This Project

2 Wellhead Platforms & Process Module

Fabrication for Conoco Phillips Viking Phoenix Development Project consisted of building two Minimum Facility Production Platforms (KD & LD) and a Process Module. The two platforms were designed by Brown & Root and based upon a normally unmanned, lightweight, efficient tripod design (see last image). Also included in the contract scope was provision of a Separation and Compression Module to be installed onto the existing Viking BD Platform to act as a processing facility for KD, LD and other assets.

Following contract award in April 1997, the Topsides and Jackets were completed in 13 months with sail away taking place during the 2nd and 3rd week of May 1998. Following installation, hook up and commissioning the facilities were handed over to Conoco in October 1998 with production starting soon thereafter. After 20 years in operation production finally ceased in August 2018.
