More About This Facility

Supporting fabrication operations and day to day activities on the Yard required a considerable variety of skills and knowledge. In order to provide the necessary support across a range of technical and business disciplines a management structure existed in areas such as: Accounts, Administration, Business Development, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Cost Control, Data Processing, Drawing Office, Estimating, Field Engineering, Legal Services, Mould Loft, Maintenance, Material Control, Materials Testing, Planning, Project Management, Purchasing, Quality Control, Secretarial, Surveying and Warehousing.

The personnel employed within any of these services would work either within the general management structure providing support across a number of projects or work within a project team focussed upon a delivering a specific contract.

Whilst a core number of staff were retained in key areas throughout the Yard’s years in operation, the numbers working within support services varied according to activity levels, in a similar way to how the fabrication trades were affected.

The above images are extracted from a brochure advertising some of the in-house support services that existed on the Yard in the 1980’s
