Drilling Platform Jacket
DP1 was the second Morecambe Wellhead Drilling Platform Jacket to be fabricated at the Ardersier Yard for HGB (see 1983 HGB Morecambe DP3 Jacket). Similar in design to four leg DP3 Jacket and slightly heavier at 2,690 Tonnes, fabrication and assembly followed the same sequence, again with a skid-rail loadout arrangement.
Fabrication was completed in early 1984 and installation followed in April of that year, with Platform start of production taking place in 1985. DP1 is one of the three platforms that form Morecambe Central Processing Complex (CPC).
As of 2025, work is planned on carbon storage for the field which would take place in tandem with gas production until the fields are shut down.
