Project: Clyde

More About This Project

Jacket Structure & Piles

The Clyde oil field was discovered in 1978 in a location 175 miles southeast of Aberdeen in the Central North Sea. Plans for development of the field were based upon the installation of a single integrated drilling, production and accommodation platform.

In January 1984, the operators of the field Britoil awarded the Yard a contract to build a conventional 8-leg Jacket and Pile set. The Jacket which was built on the east slipway was completed and loaded out in July 1985.

Following installation of the Jacket in the summer of 1985, the topsides were installed in mid-1986 and production commenced in 1987. Through the lifespan of the platform it became a key gathering and processing hub for several fields in the area, connected through subsea tie-backs.
